Cassie and Matthew’s Whimsical “Backyard Wedding” at Thomas G Crowder, Raleigh, NC
Cassie and Matthew’s wedding at Thomas G. Crowder Woodland Center Park in Raleigh, NC was straight out of a dream! From the moment Cassie slipped into her dress and placed her flower-adorned veil, she truly looked like a woodland fairy. The whole day felt whimsical, lighthearted, and so full of love, the kind of wedding where you walk away with your cheeks sore from smiling!
The Venue & Pre-Ceremony Moments at Thomas G Crowder Park, Raleigh, NC
Thomas G. Crowder Woodland Center Park in Raleigh, NC is seriously one of my favorite spots. The trees, the little paths, the soft sunlight peeking through it, made for SUCH good shots! It felt like the perfect secret garden for Cassie and Matthew’s day. This is exactly the kind of place I love shooting in because everything is naturally beautiful and full of little moments to catch!
One of my favorite parts of their day was the love and family that went into the flowers. Cassie’s grandmother grew all of the flowers for this wedding, and they were everywhere — in the bouquet, along the aisle, and woven into the decor. Cassie and her mom had also crafted the ceremony flowers that the couple stood between while their officiant guided the ceremony. On top of that, her mom made a banner that hung behind them with their new last name — the Brethrens. Little details like these made the ceremony feel so personal, thoughtful, and full of meaning.
The Wedding Ceremony
Matthew made sure to stay turned around for a little bit so he could make SURE not to see Cassie. But when he turned around, his face lit up, he smiled, and you could see how excited he was. They exchanged vows, then did a rope ceremony, which I had never seen before! Some guests, including their parents and the officiant, each put a rope around the one they were holding, and when it was time to kiss, they pulled each other in by the rope!
